How do we use your information?
The information you provide will be used by the University to contact you via email with information updates about Global Moves. We will send occasional emails that contain news, items of interest and links to external contributors. We may also use your information for analytical and research purposes in order to help us understand users’ engagement with the website and its content. We may contact you to invite you to participate in research projects.
What is the legal basis for us collecting and using this information?
We are using information about you because you have given us your consent. We also have legitimate interest, in that we wish to share with you, information and research relating to the work of Global Moves.
What information is collected?
The information that we collect from you is as follows:
- Your name
- Your university email address
- Your university student number
Who is this information shared with?
Information about you will be shared with Simplicity Marketing, who are our cloud-based server company. Your information that is shared with Simplicity Marketing will not be used for any purpose other than previously outlined. We may also share anonymised data with research colleagues out with the University of Edinburgh for the purposes of research.
How long will we hold your data?
We will hold the personal data you provided us for a period of three years before we ask you for consent again. Also, if we update our Privacy Notice we will notify you and ask for updated consent. You can unsubscribe at any time, either via the link clearly visible in our emails, or by emailing us at Sharon.mackechnie@ed.ac.uk.
Security of your data
Global Moves and Simplicity Marketing are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. To prevent unauthorised access or disclosure we have put in place robust procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect.
If at any point you become aware of a security incident or you have reason to suspect that your data may have been compromised, please forward the communication to us or report the incident by email to Sharon.mackechnie@ed.ac.uk
We do not use profiling or automated decision-making processes.
